Why Bespoke ICT exists

Experienced IT capability should be close to the work — and close to the decisions.

Many organisations need senior technical capability, but not another layer between the business and the people doing the work.

Bespoke ICT is designed to fill that gap: experienced judgement, practical delivery and clear responsibility for the result.

Bespoke ICT

A career built in business-critical IT

The experience behind Bespoke ICT began in 1998 in a financial-trading environment, supporting business systems where network reliability and real-time market data directly affected day-to-day operations.

That early responsibility quickly developed into broader hands-on IT work across hardware, servers, Linux, networking and business infrastructure.

1998–2004

Hands-on foundations

Early roles built practical experience from the ground up: assembling and supporting systems, working with Linux and servers, managing datacentre infrastructure, learning Cisco networking and supporting business-critical communications environments.

By the early 2000s, that experience had expanded into ISP and NOC operations, international Points of Presence, fibre infrastructure and network engineering across Cyprus, Athens and London.

During the same period, Alex helped deliver a complex international communications and IT environment combining resilient infrastructure, networking, satellite connectivity, VoIP, Wi-Fi and other integrated services under a demanding delivery schedule.

2005–2010

Engineering leadership

In 2005, Alex moved into a Network Operations Manager role, taking responsibility for network growth, Points of Presence, backbone technologies, operational teams and technical delivery.

The role combined engineering with people management, hiring, performance responsibility and continued involvement in the underlying technology.

2011–2017

CIO responsibility in Switzerland

After moving to Switzerland in 2011, Alex took on CIO responsibility for an international trading organisation.

The role included building and improving datacentre and infrastructure environments, introducing IT and security policies, developing monitoring and operational processes, supporting international offices and expanding responsibility across a growing global footprint. Under his tenure, the organisation grew from eight to fourteen offices.

The work also extended beyond infrastructure into business-process improvement and automation, showing how IT could directly improve operational workflows rather than simply keep systems running.

2017–2023

Hands-on CIO, modernisation and resilience

From 2017, Alex continued in a hands-on CIO role in Zug, inheriting an environment still recovering from a major cyber incident.

The following years included substantial modernisation across Microsoft Exchange, Cisco infrastructure, HyperFlex and VMware, backup and recovery, SWIFT-related security controls, endpoint security, remote access and international office infrastructure.

The role combined executive responsibility with direct technical ownership — from infrastructure design and migration to cybersecurity incident response, operational continuity and major business-system upgrades.

One significant SAP HANA modernisation project delivered major improvements in report performance, with some workloads running six to ten times faster after the upgrade.

Since 2024 — Bespoke ICT

Bespoke ICT brings that accumulated experience directly to Swiss organisations that need capable, secure and well-run IT without building every specialist function internally.

Today, Bespoke ICT works across managed IT, cyber protection, infrastructure modernisation, Swiss hosting, Microsoft environments, secure remote access, backup and recovery, and specialist IT projects.

How Bespoke ICT works

Founder-led, directly accountable

Senior technical direction and clear accountability stay close to the work.

Clients know who stands behind the technical decisions and who remains accountable for the outcome, while the company structure can evolve as the business grows without changing those principles.

Tailored to the requirement

Bespoke ICT does not begin with a predetermined product stack.

Architecture, providers and technologies are selected according to the organisation’s actual business, security, operational and commercial requirements.

That may mean Microsoft cloud services, Swiss-hosted infrastructure, on-premises systems or a hybrid of several approaches.

Strategy through implementation

Bespoke ICT can stay involved from assessment and design through procurement, migration, configuration, validation and ongoing operation.

The value is not only in recommending what should change, but in being able to deliver the change successfully.

Swiss accountability, international experience

Bespoke ICT is based in Zug and works primarily with Swiss organisations, while the experience behind the company spans international offices, infrastructure, suppliers and business environments.

That combination provides local accountability without limiting the ability to operate across international contexts.
